Outstanding good looks, sustainable slip resistance and excellent acoustic performance were key factors in the selection of new Polysafe Wood FX Acoustic multi-functional sheet vinyl flooring for corridors and circulation areas at London's Lambeth Academy.
"Our state-of-the-art premises, designed by award winning architects demand the specification of the best possible products," says academy Site Manager Geoff Gilbert. "As well as being extremely attractive, Polysafe Wood FX Acoustic minimises noise transfer in our busy corridors and also ensures enhanced under foot safety for students, staff and visitors. Cleanability and the facility to maintain regularly were other deciding factors. All in all, the ideal choice."
Installed at the academy by flooring contractor Interclad, of Westerham, Kent, Polysafe Wood FX Acoustic - in eight highly attractive and realistic timber-effect designs - is seen as ideal for use within schools, hospitals, residential and commercial buildings as well as within student accommodation, hotels and residential care.
In acoustic performance terms, the product exceeds the legal requirements set down in the Building Regulations Part E, achieving a sound insulation level of greater than or equal to 19dB, making it suitable for use within multi-storey dwellings, school buildings and hospitals. Polysafe Wood FX Acoustic is also ideally suited to single-storey commercial premises where it is desirable to create a quieter working environment for both employees and visitors.
And because the flooring achieves its acoustic performance by means of an integrated foam backed layer, it offers both enhanced underfoot comfort and anti-fatigue benefits in premises where employees may be required to stand for long periods of time.
As well as acoustic performance, 3.7mm gauge Polysafe Wood FX Acoustic incorporates a 0.65mm clear PVC wear layer with clear aluminium oxide particles incorporated throughout to ensure enhanced, sustainable slip resistance.
In common with all Polysafe ranges, Polysafe Wood FX Acoustic complies fully with HSE Guidelines, providing sustained slip resistance throughout the guaranteed life of the product. The ranges also achieve 36+ on the RRL Pendulum wet test (Slider 96/Four S rubber) with a surface roughness of 20 microns and above to ensure a low slip risk classification.
Polysafe Wood FX Acoustic also meets the performance requirements of EN 651, the standard for resilient floorcoverings with a foam layer.
