● Lower performing LED lamps
The following lamps cannot be placed on the market after 1st September 2023:

At Commulite, they welcome this move by the government towards a greener and brighter future. It’s something that they preempted 10 years ago, and they are looking forward to further moves towards improving the safety and living environments for residents now as well as future generations.

So what does this mean to the Social Landlord?

Essentially it means things are changing and you need to act now to protect your investments against further legislation.

As experts in emergency lighting for over 10 years, Commulite’s top 3 tips would be:

1. Future proof your investments now with systems that already surpass current regulations as Commulite anticipate further upgrades to legislation.

2. Look at the long-term investment payback rather than short term ‘cheaper’ options. The ‘cheap now’ options undoubtedly only benefit the contractor and will lead to you having low quality components which will require more maintenance and possible fall short of future regulations.

3. Make your life as easy as possible with remote systems that are continuously monitored and generate daily compliance reports, so that you have no doubt that you have safeguarded your residents as well as your own liability. Compliance is about more than ticking a box.

At Commulite, they have been supplying high quality, low energy LED luminaires with programmable and variable light levels for over 10 years. They have always designed their systems to be future proof, meaning that investing in their lighting will be a secure option no matter what happens with future regulations.

Commulite’s systems surpass every regulation to such a high degree. For example, their emergency lighting runs for 9 hours (enough to get residents safely through the night) as opposed to the current standard of 3 (which would potentially leave residents in a blackout situation through the night).

Commulite are experts in BS5266, The Building Safety Act and fully up to speed on all findings of The Grenfell Inquiry Report. They are happy to provide free advice to any social housing providers looking for information on best practice and compliance for lighting and emergency lighting.
