Commercial vinyl floorcoverings manufacturer, Polyflor, has invested in a new 13-vehicle fleet of MAN trucks to operate from its distribution centre in Oldham.
Comprising eight MAN three-axle 26 tonne TGM rigids and five TGX 26.XXXBLS tractor units, all new vehicles feature Euro Five engines, reducing emissions in line with the latest regulations. All vehicles have also been fitted with aero dynamic kits, automatic gearboxes and cruise control to improve overall fuel efficiency.
MAN EcoStyle driver monitoring has been installed across the fleet to allow accurate assessment of a number of driving parameters to identify areas where operational savings may be made.
Minimising the environmental impact of our distribution operation is a major priority, comments Jason Long, distribution manager at Polyflor. These new vehicles help us achieve that goal while extra features, such as the MAN EcoStyle equipment, help us to reduce operational costs even further.
The entire Polyflor fleet is dispatched daily from its 200,000 sq ft warehouse in Oldham, delivering floorcoverings to customers and an extensive network of distribution partners throughout the UK.
The warehouse has the capacity to hold 2,000,000 sq m of tiles and 2,500,000 sq m of sheet flooring at any given time. This volume of stock, together with an effective UK-wide distribution system, allows Polyflor to offer excellent product availability and rapid delivery times.
