Non-combustible decking - feel at home with a trusted and compliant system

Non-combustible decking - feel at home with a trusted and compliant system

The updated requirements in Regulation 7, Approved Document B, MHCLG guidance and BS8579, create the challenge for Architects and Specifiers to source decking suitable for high-rise and high risk balconies and terraces which achieves the requirements of European Classification A2-s1, d0 or Class A1, classified in accordance with BS EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009.

In addition, the decking must still achieve the properties that residents expect from their balcony or terrace deck, including slip resistance, longevity and durability.

In addition to the renewed technical requirements, recent events mean that more than ever, balconies and terraces are vital outside areas of the home. Therefore it is important that finishes are suitable for this home environment and provide a tactile and attractive surface for residents to relax, play and enjoy.

Thanks to Blazeboard, now Non-combustible decking doesn’t just mean aluminium. Blazeboard is a non-combustible decking suitable for high-rise balconies and terraces, which replicates the look, feel and slip resistance of hardwood.

The Engineers have applied their experience of re-engineering construction materials, to optimise mineral-based composites to solve the problem of creating a strong, non-combustible material which has a tactile feel suitable for residential applications, including high-rise balconies.

With similar dimensions to hardwood deck, and similar installation techniques, Blazeboard is a premium solution which can be used in the same way that hardwood decking would be used, spanning between structural members to provide an attractive, slip resistant and hard wearing finish.

Extensive testing and certification was necessary to ensure that the material was suitable, including meeting the Class A1fl non-combustible rating in accordance with BS EN 13501-1:2007+A1:2009.

Blazeboard is engaging with Architects, Specifiers and Contractors across the industry providing decking that is at home, at home.
