Orona lifts achieve zero net energy consumption

Orona has achieved zero net energy consumption for two lifts installed at its Hernani headquarters.

The lifts were furnished with energy storage systems, and photovoltaic panels were used as a source for generation of renewable energy.

Analysis of the data recorded for five months suggests that the energy storage capacity and reduced electricity requirements lead to significant savings. The independent lifting principle allows for up to 85% savings on electricity costs and zero net energy consumption.

Orona is committed towards sustainability and the development of products that are energy efficient, particularly bearing in mind that the consumption of buildings accounts for approximately 40% of the total energy consumption in Europe. In the last few years, Orona has successfully reduced the energy consumption of an ordinary lift up to 75%, making an important contribution to the fulfilment of the Directive on Energy Consumption in Buildings. The Directive requires all new buildings in the European Union to be near zero-energy buildings by the end of 2020.
