Planted roof systems
Icopal manufactures a green-roof system that provides three key benefits. The material Fytocell, used as a specialist growing substrate, is one-third the weight of top soil, allowing a green roof to be established successfully on a lower loadbearing structure, reducing building costs. Icopal can provide waterproofing of virtually all elements of green roofs, giving compatibility between all elements of waterproofing within the building, such as tanking, roof decks and podium decks. By using a single-source supply, Icopal can help eliminate fragmentation and compromised waterproofing performance.
The warm-roof design encapsulates the thermal insulation within the waterproofing layers. This requires the use of a high-quality vapour control and calculation of the dew point to ensure there is no condensation risk within the roof build-up.
The inverted roof design positions the waterproofing layers directly above the structural deck, and below the impervious, high-density, extruded-polystyrene thermal insulation layer.
The cold roof design incorporates a thermal insulation layer below the structural roof deck. It relies on ventilation within the roof space to remove moisture vapour.
