Polyroof Products was chosen to waterproof the curved cedar cladded front wall at Northwood primary school.
The design of the building features a striking cedar cladded front wall, which curves over at the top leading onto sedum covered green roof areas. The building was designed with the environment firmly at the forefront of the priorities and the natural wood and vegetation on the building achieved the desired aesthetics. Unfortunately, the cedar cladding in a particular led to a secondary problem, namely how to waterproof the area underneath.
The cedar cladded area had proved to be a long-standing source of leaks and the need to provide a long-term waterproofing solution was the driving force of the works. Due to the complexity of the structure and detailing underneath the cladding, a liquid system was chosen to provide seamless and maintenance free waterproofing.
It was clear that that Protec was the solution to the school's problem, due to its perfect combination of flexibility and robustness. The Protec was applied directly to the existing roof coverings so the task could be completed quickly and provide minimum disruption to the school's daily routine.
