A property developer recently contacted Wykamol and asked for help, as he is building a new home.
Within his home, he also wanted to build a basement structure.
Wykamol were asked to look at the plans and create a dual waterproofing scheme, taking into consideration the geology report and to look at any potential ground gas issues.
Wykamol supplied the relevant drawings and CSSW approved and submitted the designs.
The property is located near Huddersfield in West Yorkshire.
Once the plans were all approved, work started on site. Wayne Longstaff, Wykamol’s Technical Manager for Yorkshire and the North East, was on site every step of the way. Wayne provided installation advice and checked the preparation of the areas to carry out the waterproofing.
Wykamol used a primer, a bonded sheet membrane, a BBA approved sure proof, a protection membrane and drainage layer geotextile membrane.
In the near future, a Type C cavity drain membrane will be installed to give the development a dual waterproofing certificate.
Not only are Wykamol impressed with the project and the quality of the installation, but the developer has also now decided he is going to build basements in his future developments.
Basements are a great solution, when requiring more space in future projects.
