Rainscreen cladding for leisure plaza

Rainscreen cladding for leisure plaza

Over 5000 square metres of Euroclad's advanced BML Rainspan system has been used to form the exterior of the leisure plaza in Milton keynes, which includes a newly refurbished Planet Ice and a new Morrisons supermarket.

The £40m development, designed to a BREEAM Excellent standard, has provided a new home for the local Ice Hockey team with an increased seating capacity for spectators, as well as an ice rink attraction for the public with a new bar area, café, and party function room.

The plaza displays a brand new contemporary entrance with colourful feature lighting, leading to a variety of bars and restaurants, with the new Morrisons supermarket and additional retail units added to the complex to make it an overall improved attraction for visitors.

Booth Muirie’s BML system was specified in silver with a metallic finish to clad the majority of the new building and exterior features, with highlight areas in moss green, sky blue and signal red used to add an element of colour to the design. The panels were installed by Kovara Projects, with additional strengthening to provide a robust solution to the heavily pedestrianized areas.

Lee Homewood, Project Director at Kovara Projects, commented “We are always happy to work with Booth Muirie’s products as they produce high quality products and provide excellent service from concept design to post completion. Everyone involved was delighted with the end result and the project was handed over achieving all indicators set out at the pre-order stage.”
