Rainscreen cladding for Robert Gordon University

Rainscreen cladding for Robert Gordon University

Booth Muirie has supplied its high quality rainscreen cladding to a £120M development at the Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.

3000m² of Booth Muirie's widely used BML120 rainscreen system in Alucobond® aluminium composite material (ACM) was supplied for vast sections of the external façade in metallic silver, metallic dark grey and patina green. The panels were able to realise the curves of the architectural design to smooth lines and enhance the aesthetics, while retaining durability and meeting the requires performance standards.

The new Garthdee Campus development aims to create a space in which different disciplines can work alongside each other in interdisciplinary projects by providing teaching, learning, research and social spaces in one large complex.

The BML120 system is part of a range of standard rainscreen constructions that are easily tailored by altering the components to suit a variety of applications. A tongue-and-groove jointing method combines the panels that are attached to the pre-engineered vertical rails for trouble-free installation.

Bill Somerville, Head of Estates at Robert Gordon University, said: "The quality and aesthetics of the rainscreen panels provided by Booth Muirie has achieved the performance standards and appearance we were looking for and we are very happy with the final result."
