Schöck sponsors ‘Designing with Concrete’

Schöck sponsors ‘Designing with Concrete’

Schöck is delighted to be co-sponsoring the ‘Designing with Concrete’ lecture and workshop series, taking place over the next few months at University Schools of Architecture throughout the country. The other joint sponsor is Lanxness, a major supplier of raw materials to a number of key industries, including the supply of sustainable colour pigments for cement based construction products.

Schöck was considered to be an ideal sponsorship partner, as the company contributed to the supporting RIBA publication ‘Concrete: A studio design guide’, by Michael Stacey. The publication, which was commissioned by The Concrete Centre, features Isokorb® thermal insulation modules and focuses on their incorporation into the Lois Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Arts, in Cincinnati USA, which was designed by Zaha Hadid Architects. The Isokorb® units in question provide thermal broken components for the hanging walls at the Lois Rosenthal Center. They play an essential role as this particular section of the gallery embraces both internal and external spaces.

The lectures themselves are being delivered by Allan Haines, of EDICCT. Allan, who has held a variety of posts in architectural education in the construction sector, established EDICCT as a support facility for design education involving professionals and universities. The sessions will be attended by students of Architecture and Architectural Technology.
