Charter-Integr8 shutters were specified to "add a splash of colour" to Newark Primary School in Scotland. The school enjoys a prominent position in the local landscape and the use of Charter-Integr8 shutters (finished in vibrant red and green) is an important part of its bold and striking design.
The school is located on the junction of a busy road and the client was concerned about vandalism," commented the leading architects, "and Charter-Integr8 shutters were an ideal solution. The fact that the shutters are fully concealed is another advantage, as they don't detract from the building's design. In fact, they add another splash of colour to the facades, and have received favourable comments.
As part of the building's energy efficient design, perforated shutters were specified to allow natural light in the classrooms even when the shutters are closed, and keep energy consumption to a minimum.
