Sleek new sliding doors add modernity to Cunard House offices

Gilgen have provided a new curved sliding door for Cunard House in Central London.

Complete with supporting steel work and side screens, the new door would ensure efficient operation and raise the entrance up to modern day safety standards.

The door and screens are installed with tinted safety glass and have an overall radius of 5.2m curving outwards.

It has a clear opening width of 2.38m and height of 2.26m ensures easy access for every user including the disabled or pedestrians with bags and cases

The SRM dual drive unit which powers the door is encased in an aluminium profile carrier along with the carriage, drive pulley, belt and other fixings.

Installed to BS EN16005 safety standards, the door comes with microprocessor-based control with self-monitoring and integrated safety mechanisms.

The door is automatically activated through active infrared presence sensors and direction sensitive radar devices which are mounted on the canopy.

For extra protection two safety light scanners with ‘dark switching mode’ are installed to continuously monitor both sides of the closing edge to minimise any risk of contact with the moving door leaf.

Manual control is made possible through the D-Bedix program switch located on the adjacent wall with functions such as automatic, open, exit and night operation.

This enables authorised staff to manage the performance of the door in any given situation.

Gilgen Door Systems provides regular servicing through its national service team to ensure the door continues to perform reliably day and night.
