Slim timber windows for Hampstead Garden home

Slim timber windows for Hampstead Garden home

Lomax + Wood has provided made-to-order replacement double glazed timber casement windows and doors for a residential property in the conservation area of Hampstead Garden Suburb.

Precise dimensions were taken to replicate the sight lines and moulding of the original windows although a deeper frame was required to accommodate the 18mm slim double glazed units. Integral warm edge spacer between glazing bars required slim stiles, the vertical member of the frame, which was acceptable to both the Trust and Barnet Council. A comfortable 1.4 W/m²K U-value has been achieved which meets current Part L Building Regulations’ to ensure reduced energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.

Andrew Goding, sales director, Lomax + Wood, said:"Importantly the Garden Suburb’s Trust has strong sustainability policies which played a major part in achieving the approvals to replace the single glazed originals with double glazed units. The window design wasn’t an issue and as a recognised supplier the Trust knows we specialise in period styles and have the ability to replicate on a large scale. The side hinge casements are topped with top hinge swing out fanlights, some of which are fixed, with a horizontal transom mould.”
