The ‘One Form’ stepped slab former
Groundwork Engineered Systems Ltd
The One Form stepped concrete slab former emanated from Groundwork Engineered Systems continually receiving construction drawings with concrete slabs outer profiles showing stepped/boot shapes.
These are regularly designed to provide a lower slab outer level to sit the brickwork on and the upper slab level to accommodate the internal wall blockwork.
This type of slab is commonly formed in two concrete pours, the lower level first and as the concrete cures, the edge shutter is removed and fixed to form the higher level.
Groundwork Engineered Systems believe that there are mechanical double edge formers available to enable the forming of both levels in a single pour but as of yet, they have not seen any. Having initially thought this through, W.W. constructed a simple shutter mock up version with a positive result. This was considered a worthwhile product to develop, and One From has been offered to the ground worker.
Although the product hasn’t gone viral, Groundwork Engineered Systems feel that there certainly is mileage in adding it to their portfolio of formwork products, they have notarised the I.P. of ‘One Form’ as they feel it has a reasonably good chance of success in the concrete slab housing market.
