The Sesame Horizontally Retracting Stair Lift

Sesame Access Invisible Wheelchair Lifts

Sesame design, build and install bespoke wheelchair lifts for wheelchair access into all types of buildings including listed buildings and English heritage sites.

They offer stairs that retract either vertically or horizontally to present the wheelchair user with a hidden wheelchair lift. They also offer bespoke platform only lifts without the retracting stairs.

The following ‘Horizontally Retracting Stair Lift’ range shows Sesame's solutions to disabled access incorporating their horizontal retracting stair technology.

As you go down the list you will see the bolt-on options for each Sesame Horizontally Retracting Stair Lift

The Sesame Kensington Stairlift

A stair lift for a rise of up to 499mm that sits hidden into the environment it is in. The stairs are used by pedestrians, but then at a push of a button retract horizontally to reveal a platform lift hidden below for wheelchair access.

Please see the Kensington Stairlift photo. The stairs and lift table can be clad in whatever material specified by the client.

The Sesame Mayfair Stairlift

A stair lift for a rise of up to 999mm with a hidden barrier that sits flush with upper landing level when the stairs are being used by pedestrians.

When the lift is called the barrier rises from the ground to protect the void that is created when the stairs retract.

Where pit depth is at a premium the upper landing rising barrier can be replaced with an automatic gate as seen in their Sesame Oxford Disability Lift.

Please see the Mayfair Stairlift photo. The button post you see in the staircase rises with the lift: this can be replaced by a removable hand-held post that a member of staff clips in when a user asks for something to hold onto when travelling on the stair lift.

The Sesame Knightsbridge Stairlift

A stair lift for a rise of up to 999mm with a hidden button post that automatically rises through the lift table once the stairs have retracted.

When the lift is at rest and the stairs are being used by pedestrians the button post sits flush with the lift table and completely hidden from sight.

Please see the Knightsbridge Stairlift photo. The stairs have extended over the automatic button post so to completely hide it.

The Sesame Whitehall DDA Lift

A DDA lift for a rise of up to 2999mm with bespoke handrails that rise with the lift and a rising barrier at the front of the lift table.

The handrails and the rising barrier fully enclose the user to a height of 1100mm allowing this lift to be suitable for seated and standing users.

Please see the Whitehall DDA Lift photo. The handrails were specified by the client to fit in with the rest of the handrails in the building.

The handrails can be made from any material or specification as long as they do not create a crush hazards.

The Westminster Equality Act Stairlift

An Equality Act Stairlift for a rise of up to 2999mm with hidden rising barriers that sit flush with the lift table and out of site when the stairs are extended for pedestrian use.

The rising barriers fully enclose the user to a height of 1100mm allowing this lift to be suitable for seated and standing users.

Please see the Westminster Equality Act Stairlift photo. You can see that the lift table, and its rising barriers are completely hidden from view.

The handrails to the side are nothing to do with the lift, they are simply for pedestrians to hold onto when walking up and down the stairs.
