The Sesame Vertically Retracting Stairs
Sesame design, build and install horizontally retracting stairs. The stairs retract under the top step riser into a pit below the upper landing.
In some cases, the building does not have the required space, so Sesame can design Vertically Retracting Stairs that lower straight down instead, so as to not encroach into the space below the upper landing level.
As you go down the list you will see the bolt-on options for each of the Sesame Vertically Retracting Stairs.
The Sesame Wembley Stair Lift
A stairlift lift that rises to a total height of 200mm making it ideal for the step up over the threshold to the front door of a residential property, or small level change within any a building.
Please see the Wembley Stairlift photo. This system has wireless controls but can be fitted with a permanent button post.

The Sesame Edinburgh Access Lift
An access lift that rises to a total height of 999mm where the original layout of the staircase must be matched due to planning restrictions. The stairs all lower down to the lower landing then rise as a level platform for wheelchair access.
Please see the Edinburgh Access Lift photo. This is a 4-step stair lift with the top step riser being a permanent feature of the building. For this project the existing door was automated to act as the upper landing barrier.

The Sesame Buckingham Listed Building Lift
A Listed Building Lift that rises to a total height of 999mm with vertically retracting stairs that lower to create a platform lift for wheelchair access.
All the stair treads are the same depth in this design, unlike the Edinburgh Access Lift which has a large landing that moves. This system has an automatic rising barrier that remains flush with the upper landing level and out of sight when not in use.
Please see the Buckingham Listed Building Lift photo. As you can see the upper barrier is hidden from view when the stairs are left at rest for pedestrian uses. Note the button post sits neatly within the handrail.

The Sesame Victoria Chair Lift
A chair lift that rises to a total height of 999mm, similar to the Buckingham Listed Building Lift but with a manual gate at the upper landing level rather than the Buckingham’s hidden rising barrier.
Please see the Victoria Chair Lift photo. You will see that the finishes for this lift were specified brass. The lift pit is directly under the stair treads so the area under the upper landing is not touched except for the manual gate actuator which requires 150mm of space below the upper landing level.

The Sesame Seattle ADA Lift
The Sesame Seattle ADA Lift rises to a total height of 2999mm with handrails that rise with the lift and fully enclose the user.
The stairs drop down to sit level with the lower landing then a barrier on the platform rises behind the user to fully enclose them.
This lift has been designed specifically for the USA market however fully complies with British and UE standards.
Please see the Seattle ADA Lift 3D model image. The US standards ASME 18.1 ask for the horizontal bar below the diagonal handrail, however, the UK and EU standards allow Sesame to omit this if desired.
