New Brunswick Village in Liverpool was built on a sloping site which required a large and attractive retaining wall, despite limited space.

The retaining wall also needed to incorporate corners, curves and steps, as well as supporting an elevated car park above it.

The existing site conditions were far from ideal and required significant remediation works.

Peter Leonard, Quantity Surveyor at Carpenterbuild Ltd, commented: “Having no prior awareness of alternative retention methods, we were going to use a Gabion Basket system. We had previous experience using Gabions on other schemes.”

Tobermore’s Secura Retaining Wall was the most cost-effective and aesthetically pleasing option.

Peter explained his decision to use Secura: “Once we were introduced to Tobermore’s Secura Retaining Walls we were interested in carrying out a cost exercise. The Secura Wall was identified as the most cost-effective option. On top of this, Secura’s design was also preferred. Secura was a more aesthetically pleasing option, with a nice range of colours to choose from that complemented the building.
