URSA Adds to Eco-Credentials at Clipper Wind Power Marine

Leading insulation manufacturer, URSA, has supplied over 16,000sqm of URSA 20 cladding roll to contractors at the new Clipper Wind Power factory, Britain’s largest (wind power) blade manufacturing facility.

The 43,000 square foot factory, based on Neptune Energy Park, owned by Shepherd Offshore, will oversee the Britannia Project which will help in the development of some of the worlds next generation of wind farms.

Given the nature of the use of the factory, the site and building have been designed with sustainable principles in mind, including air-source heat pumps and recycled rain water, in order to achieve a high BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating.

The URSA 20 cladding sits comfortably within this wider specification and is noted for its sustainable make up and production. Constructed from Glass Mineral Wool, that does not contain or use ozone depleting CFC’s or HCFC’s, the eco-credentials of all URSA products is particularly high.

Roofing contractor, Complete Cladding, part of Whelan’s supply chain specified the URSA 20 cladding roll as a preferred insulation material throughout the extensive roof and wall area. The roll is a lightweight, non combustible product that is ideal for built up metal wall and roof cladding systems, such as the design of the structure at the Clipper Windpower Marine.

Chris Tremewan of Complete Cladding said: “We’ve been really pleased with the URSA 20 product. It has been easy to use and is extremely lightweight, and perhaps most importantly, it fits well with the wider sustainable ethos of this scheme.”

Mick Robinson of URSA UK added: “It’s fantastic to see our product installed at such an important building and to be part of something that is set to make a significant impact on the way we source energy in the future.”

“Our growing UK product range is attracting a broad cross section of customer’s whose specifications and building designs vary significantly, allowing choice through one of several products available within our Glasswool range.”
