VELFAC are a major feature at the innovative 360 observatory in Wales

VELFAC windows are a major feature at the innovative 360 observatory at Cors Dyfi Nature reserve in Wales, recently voted Best Environment Project in the 2015 National Lottery Awards.

The multi-platform building uses large, slim framed VELFAC windows to deliver a panoramic vista of the nature reserve, and especially of the rare Osprey breeding pair which nests close to the building.

Specified by architect White Design, the VELFAC system features prominently in the 360 observatory. Chosen for its low energy performance and sustainable design, its ideal for a building which must be highly sensitive to its local environment.

Large VELFAC window units are installed in every external wall, with the glazing’s excellent weather performance ensuring the open plan interior remains quiet and draught free. The composite VELFAC design features an aluminium external frame, finished in grey, which is both highly durable and low maintenance, while the inner wooden window frame is an ideal match for glulam timber walls and roof.
