Belgravia Gault Blend by Ecostock has been used throughout Carmichael Court, a new development of 14 one and two-bedroomed flats primarily intended for the elderly, and wholly for social rent.
The scheme is location on the site of a Victorian villa in the town of Stevenston, Ayrshire. Traces of its former use remain – most notably in the form of a stone wall which extends around the northern and western boundaries of the site. The former War Memorial Institute, a Victorian sandstone building which lies adjacent, has provided design cues for the Carmichael Court scheme.
Due to the Victorian surroundings, and the confined nature of the site itself, the completed design was to be a restrained and sympathetic addition to the existence townscape. The choice of facing brick would be vital to achieving this goal.
Belgravia Gault Blend by Ecostock is a rich grey-buff stock brick that references the blonde sandstone buildings around the site, as well as the existing stone boundary walls.
Projecting Flemish bond panels and recessed soldier courses create modelling and depth within the elevations of each block and enhance the overall theme of the development.
Ecostock is a sustainable high-quality facing brick with recycled content. The range carries BES 6001 Responsible Sourcing certification.
