The brief
To provide an eye-catching finish for the leading data management and office building in Europe – One Microsoft. The building was conceived by the tech giant as the embodiment of its cultural transformation, bringing together 2,000 people and 71 nationalities at its Dublin HQ.

What Aliva did
To deliver a fitting façade for a world-class IT company’ headquarters, Aliva dedicated five months to the design of a unique, multi-faceted cladding system for the entire non-glazed exterior, which would reflect the aspirations of the business. Their striking Alucovering system was adapted to suit the structural requirements of this innovative building’s design, with its trademark sloped top edges and inclined façade heads. Aliva designed and manufactured the system in larger panels to complement the primary structure, adapting to a changing building design and the needs of multiple contractors throughout the project’s duration. With four distinct finishes provided across the building’s vast 10.000 sqm exterior – including etched, brushed, polished and natural – their Alucovering system has delivered originality and texture in its visual impact; providing an eye-catching headquarters for a truly ground-breaking brand. Working to a tight programme and complex build schedule, they once again achieved the design, manufacture and supply of all materials and systems on time and on budget for their clients.

What makes it special
One Microsoft Place was awarded Best Office Architecture (Ireland) Award at the European edition of the International Property Awards in 2018. The awards are presented to ground-breaking architectural innovations from across Europe.
