Stannah is one of the largest independent lift manufacturers in the UK. Established in the mid 1800's by Joseph Stannah, the company is still led by the Stannah family. Over that time the name Stannah has become virtually synonymous with lifts. From passenger lifts to the world-famous stairlift, Stannah offers a comprehensive range of products to suit most needs and budgets.

Currently, the Stannah Group has a turnover of around £180 million (2010), over 1,600 employees and manufacturing bases in Andover and Newcastle. In addition to a UK wide branch network, the company also has distributors worldwide with subsidiaries in France, Holland, Italy and the USA. The Stannah stairlift is currently distributed in over 50 countries worldwide and is a market leader in almost every one, including the key markets of Japan and Germany. In 2006, Stannah became UK distributors for Anlev escalators and moving walkways. The company sell, install and maintain these products in the UK.

In 1987, 1994 and1999 Stannah Stairlifts won the Queens Award for Export Achievement and in 2010 have won the Queens Awards for Enterprise: International Trade. Manufacturing is Quality Assured to BS EN ISO 9001 and 9002. All Stannah lifts comply with BS 5655:Part 1:1998 EN 81 safety rules for the construction and installation of lifts. Stannah passenger and access lifts comply with the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA) directive, BS 8300:2001 'Design of buildings and their approaches to meet the needs of disabled people' and EN81-70.
