ParaLink®
High strength ParaLink® geogrids, offering high strength with very low strain characteristics, used in conjunction with the piles, can take the place of the embankment foundation slab. These grids are placed in a single layer within a granular raft, immediately in contact with the pile caps.

The grids, with a design life in excess of 120 years, work in conjunction with the soils, to absorb the forces transmitted from the embankment above and transfer them vertically into the supporting piles. The presence of the ParaLink® enhances the overall piled embankment performance; the result is that the piles can be spaced wider apart, reducing costs.

One of our greatest successes is with our BBA Certified, ultra-high strength geogrid Paralink®, with strengths up to 1,600 kN/m. Through the introduction of ParaLink® into piled embankments, pile spacings can be increased, leading to project cost savings as the number of piles can be reduced.

ParaGrid® & ParaDrain®
Maccaferri’s ParaGrid® Geogrids are uniaxial geogrids that are used in many soil reinforcement applications;

• In combination with the Terramesh® range
• In our MacWall segmental blockwork reinforced soil wall
• In traditional wrapped face soil reinforced slopes

The strength of ParaGrid is provided by polyester fibres aligned in a linear orientation, which are then encased in a tough polyethylene sheath. This tough sheathing gives industry-leading resistance to installation damage, chemical and biological attack and delivers favourable partial factors of safety in the design process.

ParaGrid® geogrids have BBA Certification with a design life of up to 120 years.

Their ribbon-like shape offers excellent interaction with many soil types. When designed appropriately, it enables the reuse of more cohesive site-won fills within the construction works, thereby embracing sustainability and reducing waste. used mostly for reinforcement purposes considering their peculiar structure is able to provide the necessary strength to reinforce the filling material and their capacity to confine the soil partciles that lodge in the openings of the grid itself. Monoaxial type are characterized by having a main tensile strength, normally in the MD direction, where the CMD performances are minimized to minimum as requested by the manufacturing geogrid technology.

Maccaferri’s ParaDrain® is a unique high performance geogrid that combines soil reinforcement and drainage functions in one product. ParaDrain® has been designed with sustainability in mind; it enables the reuse of marginal fills that would normally be disposed of off-site and replaced with quarried materials.

ParaDrain® improves the properties of these otherwise unsuitable soils by reducing pore water pressure and enabling their use as structural materials. Once the pore water pressures have been dissipated the geogrid continues to reinforce the soil.

ParaDrain® geogrids are uniaxial. Each longitudinal strap features a drainage channel. These provide a regular array of positive drainage paths that rapidly dissipate the excess pore water pressures generated in poorly draining backfill materials when working with them. This results in early strength gain in the marginal fill and an improved bond between geogrid reinforcement and the marginal soil.

Both ParaGrid® and ParaDrain® have EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) Certificates providing transparent data on the environmental footprint associated with their manufacture.
