10,000m of Lignacite concrete blocks were used in the basement of The Gherkin.

30 St Mary Axe, widely know as 'The Gherkin' is situated on the former site of The Baltic Exchange. It is a commercial skyscraper in London's primary financial district, the City of London.

It was completed in December 2003 and opened in April 2004 and is the 2nd tallest building in City of London and the 6th tallest in London.
