Nostalgia abounds as the Mercure Nottingham Sherwood Hotel relights memories of the hotel formerly known as The Savoy.
At the heart of the community, the hotel was an exclusive spot in its 70s heyday with families traveling from far and wide for the famous food and grand ambience in its Old Colonial silver service restaurant and steak bar.
It was even used as a location for the TV series Auf Wiedersehen, Pet.
And the refurbishment of this well-loved building has been carried out with Mercure’s locally inspired décor design in mind.
Its fresh new look required a refresh of wiring accessories throughout the hotel’s 170-plus bedrooms and public spaces.
Project designers, Ultimate Interiors, used Oldfield Electrical in Keighley to supply appropriate wiring accessories and McLarnon Electrical to install.
They turned to Eurolite to supply the matt black wiring accessories, which complements other fittings already installed at the hotel.
Rob Burnett, of Oldfield Electrical, said. “With the request to meet the client’s criteria, we had three potential suppliers to consider.
“However, it was the speed, efficiency and outright ‘going above and beyond’ that we received from Eurolite that won them the business. When others couldn’t meet the timeframe, Eurolite helped us out by flying stuff in to hit our deadlines.”
Steven Broadbent, Operations and Commercial Director at Ultimate Interiors, said: “The Eurolite products fitted the brief perfectly and the company was able to fulfil the large number of fittings that we needed for this hotel in a timely fashion, as well as Mercure Bedford Centre Hotel, which was going through a similar refresh.”
Eurolite’s products were installed in a total of 171 bedrooms, the reception area, restaurant, bar, and lounge, and included light switches, lamp sockets, phone sockets, double sockets, USB double sockets and single sockets.
Accor Hotels had signed a portfolio of six hotels under a hotel management agreement with Danish real estate property group Proark, with £15m invested across the portfolio.
Each hotel underwent an extensive refurbishment as they rebranded as Accor’s locally inspired midscale brand, Mercure Hotels.
Mr Anthony Brage of Eagle Rock Investments, who oversaw everything on behalf of Proark, said: “Delivery and timescale were of top priority, but without sacrificing on the quality of the products used.
“All the hotels were delivered within nine months.”
