As part of its strategy to strengthen its specialist contracting business Spadeoak, Aggregate Industries has made two significant new hires - Neil Carlsson as Contract Director and Andy Bingham as Commercial Manager.
Already active in his new position, Neil will be responsible for the successful delivery of high-profile contracts at Spadeoak, which delivers world-class sports, civils and surfacing products to the education, retail, commercial and residential sectors. He joins the business from ConwayAecom, where in his role as a Boroughs Manager since 2015, Neil specialised in the delivery of surfacing and maintenance programmes.
Racking up more than a decade’s track record within the contracting sector, Neil has previously worked for Civil Engineering Contractor J.B. Riney & Co and Aggregate Industries as a Contracts Manager. Meanwhile, effective in his new role from 14 January, former Spadeoak veteran Andy re-joins the company.
Having joined the Spadeoak graduate scheme in 2011 as an assistant site supervisor, Andy worked his way up to contracts estimator, gaining a sound working knowledge of groundworks and contracting practices, before leaving the firm in 2018, to pursue a personal short sabbatical. Since then he has gained further experience on the main contracting side with Tolent Construction and S&C Slatter.
As a commercial manager, Andy will be responsible for delivering the commercial growth for the successful Spadeoak business, putting its customers and team at the forefront. Both Neil and Andy will report directly into Vicky Smith, who was appointed the new Managing Director for Spadeoak in October.
Commenting on his appointment, Neil Carlsson said: “I’m delighted to be taking on this new chapter in my career in joining Spadeoak as their new Contract Director and look forward to working with the team to make my mark during this challenging yet exciting time for the sector. I have no doubt that as experts in our field, the new strategic growth of Spadeoak will not only continue to meet, but exceed customer service and expectation.”
Also commenting on his appointment, Andy Bingham said: “I am excited to be back at Spadeoak, especially during such an exciting time for the business. I look forward to working with the team and many of my colleagues to make life easier and more convenient for our valued customers.”
Vicky Smith added: “I’d like to congratulate both Neil and Andy on their new positions. Given their established track records and sector expertise, I have no doubt they’ll hit the ground running to further grow the business and continue to supply products and services to our customers with excellence.”
