Altros CEO Richard Kahn, comments: Our new showroom in the heart of London offers a fantastic place for architects, specifiers and flooring professionals to see first hand our extensive product portfolio, as well as getting help and advice on choosing the right products for their needs.
The Beyond the Surface event was a great success with a number of customers coming along to meet the team and hear the presentations from our key speakers.
Stephen Taylor, Principal Specialist Inspector in HSE's Field Operations Division gave a talk on industry responsibility, developing legislation and trends in the compensation culture. Stephen said: Slips and trips are a huge problem, costing the UK economy more than £0.5 billion each year. Its about time that we got our act together to resolve the issue and architects and specifiers have not only an ethical responsibility but also a legal obligation to make sure the right flooring products are being used to meet the needs of each installation.
Theres a wealth of information and advice available from manufacturers and organisations such as the HSE so there really is no excuse for not getting it right!
Council Member and Director of Scott Brownrigg, Peter Caplehorn, also gave a presentation examining the conflicts between installation aesthetics, performance and standards. When it comes to specifying flooring, style and aesthetics often take precedent over practicality. However advances in design and technology mean that architects no longer have to choose between aesthetics and performance. Manufacturers such as Altro offer a wide variety of products that are slip resistant, durable and easy to maintain without compromising on design.
Altro is one of the worlds leading flooring and cladding suppliers, offering the widest range of commercial, industrial and durable solutions in the UK. From walls to floors, ceilings to doors, the company supplies hygienic, safe and practical yet decorative solutions for all interior environments without compromising on function or design.
