AluK UK Teams Up With Duration

AluK UK Teams Up With Duration

AluK's strategy of pioneering product development has proved to be a winning formula for long-established trade fabricator Duration Windows. The Canvey Island-based company has been successfully manufacturing doors and windows for over a quarter of a century and believes that offering a broad range of products from the best names in the industry is a key reason for the company?s longevity.

A wealth of experience in aluminium - gained since the business began - is also an important factor according to Brian Chelton, Duration?s Managing Director. He reports outstanding growth in this sector in recent years and says aluminium has now become the material of choice for many domestic and commercial applications thanks to improvements in thermal efficiency, superb ?green? credentials, slim sightlines and wide choice of colours. Keen to maximise this growth potential, the forward-thinking Duration Design team is now looking to expand its already extensive aluminium portfolio with exciting new additions that include AluK's recently launched Advanced Plus Residential Doors, which reach new heights in aesthetics, performance and durability.

Whilst few would argue that the past few years have been especially challenging for the window industry, ongoing investment in product innovation and variety means that AluK's portfolio enables their customers to attack not just the domestic market but also the commercial and public sectors. This is perfect for Duration. "We're renowned for being innovators in the industry," says Brian Chelton, "and for offering the very latest developments in areas such as security, bespoke gaskets, curved aluminium profile and high performance glazing. These all help to give our customers the edge they need in the current tough economic conditions."

Increasingly popular with architects and specifiers, aluminium will continue to play a major role in Duration's product offering in 2010 and beyond. Brian Chelton believes television programmes like The Home Show, Grand Designs and the Grand Designs Live spin-off events have all helped to promote the aesthetic and performance advantages of aluminium over other materials. ?If the enquiries we receive from architects are anything to go by,? he says, ?aluminium is now being specified more than PVC-U, particularly at the higher end of the residential sector. And we?re finding that innovative developments like AluK UK's new Folding Sliding Doors, which are recent additions to our Continental Suite, are a particularly popular design option.?

The second half of the year has seen further expansion of Duration?s Continental Suite, which already includes AluK's Advance Plus ?A? rated aluminium windows and Folding Sliding Doors. AluK's premium window systems will soon be further enhanced by the unique "Chelton" slimline handle. These products are now joined by AluK's new Residential Doors to form a fully integrated package that allows fabricators to reduce stockholding by utilising frames, transoms and mullions from the same high performance range. Duration is already fabricating the Residential Doors and was one of the first UK fabricators to start producing this brand new aluminium product line. ?They will form a pivotal part of our Continental Suite which offers our customers an array of groundbreaking features that are specially designed to meet the aesthetic and technical demands of the UK market."

Looking ahead, Brian Chelton is predicting another busy year for Duration as it gears up to meet continued growth in the aluminium market. ?We see the revisions to Part L of the Building Regulations as being a real boost for us. Whilst some companies have stuck their heads in the sand, we have invested in testing and accreditations and, thanks to AluK's Group scheme, we are in strong position to generate leads from discerning home owners? he says. "Together with key supply partners like AluK, Duration remains committed to leading the market with others following."
