The DIY SOS team called on Geberit to help on a Big Build in Swansea, helping 14-year-old Jack Morris, who was born with a rare form of muscular dystrophy, gain greater independence when using the bathroom.
Geberit was only too happy to donate one of its market-leading AquaClean shower toilets to the cause. Jacks mum, Helen, describes Jack as amazing and brave, but what Jack really wants to be is normal; to be able to do the things any other 14 year old boy does.
Because of his condition Jack cant get upstairs to sleep in his own bed or to use the bathroom. Before the DIY SOS team arrived, he was confined to the ground floor, with very little privacy or independence. The bathroom was impossible for Jack to access by himself, and he had to rely on his mum to help him with bathing and using the toilet.
The newly created ground floor bathroom features a Geberit AquaClean 8000plus Care, enabling Jack to enjoy a greater sense of independence and to make day-to-day life easier for his mum Helen too.
Gently washing with warm water, the shower toilet also has a warm air dryer, leaving the user feeling fresh and clean. The Geberit AquaClean 8000plus Care is simple to operate too, enabling Jack to use the bathroom with more freedom and dignity.
As Sangita Mistry, Marketing Communications Manager for Geberit AquaClean, explains: As a teenager it is important that Jack has as much freedom as possible, particularly when hes using the bathroom. We are pleased to be able to play a part in giving Jack the independence to enjoy his adolescence, and the opportunity to grow into an adult with dignity, in a home that works both for him, and for his family.
