Jacksons Fencing were requested to provide Anti Trap Bow Top fencing to Downe Primary School in the London Borough of Bromley.
Downe Primary School is a community school with 84 pupils aged 4-11 that was recently revealed as one of best performing schools for KS2 in Bromley.
Boundary demarcations were required in order to keep the youngest children from wandering out of safety towards the surrounding countryside and nearby road.
A grassy play area within the school grounds also required demarcation to allow different age groups to play simultaneously yet independently.
Jacksons supplied 19.1 metres of 1.2m high Anti Trap Bow Top fencing, and a 1.2m high 1.5m wide single leaf self-closing gate, both finished with a blue RAL 5010 polyester powder coating to match the school colours.
The school chose Anti Trap Bow Top fencing for the safety features incorporated into the design, such as hoops that are spaced at a wider distance to prevent children getting their arms, limbs or heads stuck and creating a fence that is highly suitable for parks and playgrounds.
Anti Trap Bow Top fencing is RoSPA approved, conforming to play fence standards in BS EN 1176. The fence is formed of galvanised steel railing panels that can be stepped or raked upon manufacturing to accommodate sloping ground, with a welded tubular pale-through-rail construction and vandal proof connectors.
The choice of fencing takes into account the children’s need for development space, whilst ensuring ultimate safety. The height of the fencing stops children from climbing out of the school, but is low enough to prevent a feeling of being trapped. The children can also see the outside rural surroundings, an important factor in a child’s development and awareness.
The 1.2m high fencing allows teachers to keep a watchful eye over the children during break times, without the possibility of interfering or becoming a distraction, but equally with good visibility and easy access to the playground should any need arise.
