In order to meet the increasing demand for greener construction products, Schueco UK Limited is now offering a Green Guide A rated option across its range of AWS aluminium commercial casement and tilt/turn windows.
The 'A commercial window rating is arrived at by measuring the environmental impact of a product in thirteen category areas: these include the extraction of the raw material needed to make it, its implications for climate change and the way in which it may be disposed of at the end of its life.
While not mandatory, 'A' rated windows are one of the ways to score additional credits in buildings constructed under the Building Research Establishment's BREEAM Scheme which takes a holistic approach to sustainable design.
Additionally, the Green Guide states that a large number of credits are available for reducing fabric heat loss and CO2 emissions and that windows should be chosen which will reduce operational energy usage.
Schueco AWS windows are not simply sustainable in terms of their materials and manufacture, they are also sustainable in use because their high level of thermal insulation minimises the energy needs of the building in which they are installed.
With a Schueco AWS window, specifiers therefore have the best of both worlds: an 'A' rated window that also delivers high levels of thermal insulation. Its another example of Schueco's concept of Energy2 Saving Energy, Generating Energy with highly insulated window and facade systems and renewable energy products.
