Arkon Energy, a 100% renewable data centre infrastructure company, expanded its data centre network in September 2022 by completing an acquisition of Hydrokraft AS in Glomfjord, Norway. Hydrokraft is one of the largest data centres in Europe, with a current operating capacity of 30MW and a maximum of 60MW. The focal point of this project was the implementation of a rain defence louvre system for their strategically located site, which stands a mere 400 metres from the ocean.
The main challenge was to select a louvre system that would not only provide efficient airflow but also withstand the significant wind load requirements typical of this region. Installed at the building’s front and serving as the primary airflow intake, the louvre had to be functional and aesthetically pleasing covering approximately 580m2.
After a thorough consultation process, the CS RSH-5700 horizontal bladed rain defence model from Construction Specialties’ architectural louvres range was selected. This model offered the ideal balance of performance (class A 3 up to 3.5 m/s), cost-effectiveness, and visual appeal for customer’s requirements. The solution effectively met the project’s dual challenge of high-level performance and architectural integrity.
