Involving a number of contractors, with Wates as one of the principal partners, the Decent Homes Programme aims for all social housing to meet standards of decency, set by the Government, by 2010.
In 2005, more than two thirds of Birmingham City Councils homes failed to meet the standards. Over the next three years, Armitage Shanks will provide baths, basins, WCs, taps and showering products from its popular and attractive Sandringham, Alto, Space and Simplicity ranges, which have been chosen for the programme based on many factors, including their design, lead time, price and quality, as well as the carbon footprint, Armitage Shanks being based in the West Midlands itself.
Tony Rheinberg, commercial marketing manager of Armitage Shanks, said: We are absolutely delighted to have secured the contract as the sole supplier for the Decent Homes Programme. We are looking forward to working closely with Wates and the other contractors, and to contributing towards improving the standards of Birminghams social housing. Being based in the West Midlands ourselves, it is close to home and were extremely pleased to be involved with such a project on a local level.
