ASSA Abloy opens doors at University of Edinburgh

ASSA Abloy opens doors at University of Edinburgh

ASSA ABLOY UK has provided door closers to a University of Edinburgh building.

The James Clerk Maxwell Building (JCMB) is situated two miles south of the city centre and houses the university’s School of Physics and Astronomy.

The university’s estate team contacted ASSA ABLOY UK, as they were having issues with closed doors being damaged by trolleys and fire doors being wedged open, making the building vulnerable to the spread of fire.

ASSA ABLOY DC700 with G460 door closers were specified, which have an electro-mechanical hold open guide rail, allowing doors to be held open, but released when fire alarms activate. This enabled the doors to keep FD60 integrity, and reduce the risk of fire spreading.

Additionally ASSA ABLOY DC500A door closers with G460 slide rails were specified on the non fire doors as the Cam-Motion® meets the rigorous requirements of the Equality Act 2010.
