PROJECT INFORMATION
The beautifully transformed St Helen’s Tower designed by TTSP created an environment that considered both functionality and comfort for staff and visitors. The design and build project was constructed by COMO (now Mace Interiors) and wonderfully installed by TMJ Interiors.
TTSP specified the Topakustik 14/2M (aw – 0.90, Absorption Class A, NRC – 0.89) system in an oak veneer for the huge 300-seat auditorium which sits below a very busy piazza. With Aecom’s acoustic expertise the Topakustik system adds to the aesthetics but most importantly utilised for its acoustic performance. To create a great acoustic environment to an auditorium the reverberation and sound pressure levels need to be controlled; too much reverberation and the guests at the back and sides will become confused and not understand the speaker, not enough reverberation and the guests will have trouble qualifying the speech. Topakustik 14/2M creates that great blend of diffusing sound, absorbing the reflective sounds and enhancing the speech intelligibility.
