Graftons Architectural ironmongery specialists, Lloyd Worrall, Yannedis and MB Architectural, which are part of the Macnaughton Blair business, have scooped 7 out of the 22 awards presented at its national industry awards ceremony held recently at Lords. They were Winners, Commended or Highly Commended for projects entered in the 25th Architectural Ironmongery Specification Awards. Their nearest competitor achieved only 3 awards.
The independent awards are sponsored by the Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) and the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA). This year they received the highest number of entries ever. A team of assessors made visits to assess the entries, taking into account functionality, technical specification, beauty and originality, regardless of budget or scale.
Lloyd Worralls Sheffield branch won the Sustainable Buildings category for the architectural ironmongery supplied to Sharrow School. The new school and nursery is one of the most environmentally friendly buildings in Sheffield including ground source heat pumps, a bio-diverse green roof and recycled materials used throughout. The city councils architect commended Lloyd Worrall for its expertise and design guidance on product solutions that contributed much to the overall success of the project.
The Sheffield team was also Highly Commended in the Residential Buildings category for its work on Whitfield House, a new concept in residential care for the elderly in Glossop and was Commended in the Public Buildings category for the ironmongery it supplied to Breathing Space.
London-based Yannedis received Commendations for its contribution to three major projects including St Pancras International Station (Renovated Buildings category), Windsor Castle (Established Buildings category) and the North Wing of Guildhall (Public Buildings category).
MB Architectural, based in Belfast, was commended for its involvement in the Braid Arts Centre in Ballymena where it supplied new ironmongery, renovated existing ironmongery and supplied and installed door automation and access control.
We were very pleased to be recognised in such a manner by the independent judges, says Chief Executive Peter Kearney. To be so successful across the award categories shows that our architectural sales teams are consistently providing design solutions that exceed our customers expectations.
