Aspen Stainless recently supplied an expansive range of standard and bespoke stainless-steel solutions for the DO & CO project based at Heathrow Airport. DO & CO is an airline catering company, specialising in gourmet food production and distribution.

Mclaughlin & Harvey were appointed as main contractor to help fully reconfigure the internal space for its gourmet food preparation and distribution centre.

All commercial kitchens must be fitted with effective drainage systems to ensure a safe, clean environment. To also help mitigate hazards and support high standards of operations internally, the Davos stainless steel drainage channels were installed to cope with waste liquid within the plant.

The system installed worked hand in hand with the flooring supplied by John Lord flooring, and meant the elements effectively drained water into the channels and gullies to prevent any pooling or standing water (prone to bacteria build up).

Aspen summit gullies were specified to provide maximum liquid drainage and excellent filtration of solid waste. The membrane flange was designed to act as a second drainage to prevent water reaching the filled concrete around the drain gully.

The shower drain channels were manufactured in grade 304 stainless steel and fabricated in suitable sized lengths for an effective drainage system design.

Stainless steel is resistant to caustic cleaning materials and does not rust or weaken, making it an excellent long-term solution for the plant.

Aspen also designed a number of bespoke items such as pit gratings and through pipes to support the entire factory process.

All products were supplied in high quality British stainless steel, the most hygienic option for commercial kitchens with its non-absorbent and easy to clean surface.
