Jaguar Land Rover is a household name, known for its luxury vehicles, a brand that is passionate about design.

The aim of the scheme was to work with Laing O’Rourke to enhance the external landscaping of the 185m development for Jaguar Land Rover, known as the Gaydon Triangle project.

The client required a lengthy 109m bespoke walkway canopy, and a selection of coordinated street furniture for the new landscaped areas of the site.

The canopy was a bespoke design that complimented the range of seating chosen. The structure needed to be a cantilever design but with foundations that work with a landscape tree area to the rear and a unique running water feature to the front.

The structure also had to allow for shared access between pedestrians and the occasional vehicle, this meant the design of the canopy had to have a high roof to allow for vehicular access.
There were many challenges to this project. The site was fully functioning to allow pedestrian access this meant the team had to organise working hours to fit around this.

Materials across the entire development needed to match, consultations with the client allowed for a coordination of colours and materials. Lighting was also a consideration for the canopy, requiring power supplies, we were able to design low maintenance lighting feeds.

Bailey Streetscene demonstrated their ability to take a design concept through to a fully manufactured and installed structural canopy. This included producing and erecting a full-size built approval bay for the client to inspect prior to manufacture.

The scheme has positively tested Bailey Streetscene’s design teams capabilities, both working with solid works drawings, coordinating with on site management and bringing the product to life.

Through the strength of the entire group’s capabilities from technical submission and budget costs to fully working approval drawings and 3D renders along with manufacturing abilities, the project has been an interesting one.

The outcome of the project has left the site with a contemporary walkway and distributed seating for visitors while maintaining the high-quality design mindset of the Jaguar Land Rover brand.
