Wood Energy Ltd installed a 300kW Binder wood chip boiler system. The wood boiler utilises wood chip from woodland within the estate. In 2001 the Cunliffe-Lister family bought back the ancestral home at Swinton Park near Ripon, and set up the family business as a luxury hotel. With 30 bedrooms and a spa and cookery school, the hotel has the highest energy efficiency rating of any hotel in Yorkshire.

The cost of heating the hotel with oil increased dramatically. This led Mark Cunliffe-Lister to explore the idea of replacing oil by high efficiency automatic wood-fired boiler and Wood Energy Ltd installed a 300kW Binder wood chip boiler system. The wood boiler utilises wood chip from woodland within the estate.
