Birmingham Airport is the UK’s 3rd largest airport outside London. It is accessed by over 50 airlines, flying to over 100 worldwide destinations.
The Issue
Some 12.7 million people use Birmingham Airport, and by 2033, it is forecasted to grow by 40%, and handle 18 million passengers a year. The lighting solution must be able to meet the vigorous demands of 24-hour use, whilst maintaining high performance, low maintenance and longevity.
The NVC LED Solution
NVC have a reputation for manufacturing robust quality, high performance, LED luminaires. With its professional lighting design service, NVC Lighting were able to digitally construct a layout of the airport’s interior and identify the optimum luminaires solution to meet the airport’s lighting needs.
The Luminaires Used
The highly efficient, edge-lit, Sterling LED panel is engineered with a PMMA light guide plate, significantly reducing the risk of component degradation. They were able to meet the of requirement of the TP(a) specification of Part B of the Building Regulations with their Sterling LED panel, which provides the optimum safety for thermo plastics where in the event of exposure to fire it self-extinguishes in less than 5 secs.
This was complemented by the TP(a) rated, CCT selectable, Wisconsin LED down light. The range also includes specialist emergency versions such as DALI addressable or automatic self-test, DALI dimmable and corridor function. Establishing an energy efficient solution.
