Blue Phoenix UK aggregate at Riverside Sewage Treatment

Blue Phoenix UK aggregate at Riverside Sewage Treatment

Blue Phoenix UK IBAA Type 1 was specified as the aggregate to be used on the Riverside Sewage Treatment Works contract.

The groundwork involved the construction of 800 piles for ground stabilisation prior to construction of two new sewage tanks.

A piling mat had to be created sufficient to hold a Junction PM26 Vibrocat piling rig.

After an incremental settlement test on Blue Phoenix UK IBAA Type 1 a reading of 10mm at 800KN load was achieved and found to be within guideline limits of up to 12mm.

IBAA is an extremely cost effective material when compared to Primary Aggregates and BPL is working towards a PAS 2050 compliant Carbon Footprint and will strive for Carbon Trust verification once the project is complete. The aggregates produced is carbon neutral and uses data available from Europe and UK sources.

There are also advantages logistically when using IBAA due to the low density of the material allowing for fewer vehicle movements as this gives volumetric advantages over primary materials.
