Client: BP Headquarters, London
Contractor: ISG InteriorExterior
Type of works: Astralux 2000 venetian blinds and Astralux 6000 louvre system installed in board rooms.
ISG InteriorExterior was contracted to carry out the refurbishment of the fourth floor of Burlington Gardens in preparation for occupation by BPs main board directors and contacted the Astralux Technical Department to discuss the requirement for blinds. The windows presented a specific challenge because the lower vertical panels had inward sloping glazing above them. A high degree of dim-out was also required. The programme needed to be completed within 4 weeks of the initial contact.
After a single meeting with the ISG Project Manager and the architect, the specification for Astralux 2000 venetian blinds to the vertical glazing with a complementary Astralux 6000 louvre system to the sloping section was proposed, and provisionally agreed. All systems were fitted with integrated radio motors to allow group wireless-switching. Sample blinds were fitted within 7 days and after approval was received, the balance of the package was manufactured and installed within the contract period.
The blinds provide effective shading to all glazing, and the motorised operation allows for ease-of-use with automatic control via a timer to close the blinds automatically overnight.
