Brewers Alton Have Been Busy!

Brewers Alton Have Been Busy!

The team at Brewers Alton have been busy recently! Members of the team have gotten out into the local communities and beyond to raise money for some seriously worthy causes. Here’s what they’ve been up to:

National 3 Peaks Challenge:

Brewers Alton Branch Manager, Richard Weeks and customer Daren Paine climbed the National 3 Peaks Challenge on June 24th -25th, climbing Ben Nevis (Scotland) Scarfell Pike (England) and Snowdon, now called Yr Wyddfa (Wales). The challenge is to complete the three climbs in under 24 hours from start to finish.

Starting at Ben Nevis at exactly 3pm we climbed the largest mountain in the beautiful rare Scottish sunshine returning to the car in five hours, a long drive followed to Cumbria starting the assent of Scarfell pike at 2AM, using head torches we climbed through the dark, up to a spectacular dawn at the summit. Back down to the car and another drive to Yr Wyddra, the weather turned wet from the start and visibility dropped to near zero at the top. A soaked mad dash to the finish saw a final time of 23 hours 58 minutes, just squeaking through with just 120 seconds left on the clock. The total altitude climbed was 9,843 ft (3064 m).

We took on the challenge to raise funds for Action and compassion for Tanzania (ACT) whose mandate is relieving poverty in rural Tanzania through education, healthcare and promoting sustainability. We are currently well on our way to raising £15,000 to fund the build of a modern, four bed maternity clinic, with a delivery suite in Mtwara, a small town in the south-east of rural Tanzania. The climb has raised over £3600 so far and donations are still coming in. If anyone would like to donate to the charity, we have a fundraising link on the website, act-tanzania.org.”

Thank You Day:

Brewers Alton was invited to participate in the local “Thank You Day”, a 6 aside football tournament earlier this month. 10 teams made up of 6 local trade merchants including 2 ladies’ teams and 2 building contractors who battled it out for the winner’s title. Team Brewers put up a strong fight, but ultimately were knocked out within sight of the semi-final by the eventual winners, Martin Watts Builders (a Brewers Alton customer).

The event was well attended with an estimated 8000 local people attending. Great fun was had by everyone who played there and there are already calls for a rematch next year!

Dulux Race to the King 2023:

Kaelim Pitman (Brewers Alton Sales Advisor) took part in the South Downs Ultra Marathon. Steeped in history, participants were able to take in the Chichester Coastline and Arundel Castle in aid of a worthy cause.

"I was invited by Dulux to take part in Dulux Race to the King 2023. It was a 50km (31 mile) run starting at Goodwood racecourse, down towards Chichester, along the coast towards Emsworth, up to Stoughton and a final push back to the racecourse. My official time to the finish was 8 hours 46 minutes. I ran the marathon for Cancer research UK, and we raised £960 (£1128.7 5inc gift aid). Overall, it was an amazing experience for a great cause, and I’d even consider doing the 100km if I get invited back!
