Using coloured recycled glass with a resin bound system, is not only creative but also a ‘low energy’ process because the materials are mixed cold on-site. The final finish of a resin bound surface should be appear smooth, be slip-resistant, and allow water to pass through. Resin bound surfaces are ideal for vehicular and foot traffic, pushchairs, bikes, and wheelchairs.

The new resin bound pathways that surround the building of Raynsford Academy make a remarkable improvement giving the children, teachers, and visitors an improved and safer pedestrian access to the new school building and sports pitch.

The external works requirements for this school were to create fun, and accessible pedestrian access paths around the school buildings.

The top three aims of the project were to:
• Improve accessibility
• Transform the area
• Provide hardwearing pathways
