Broxap supply canopy and external furniture for £1.6 million transport project by Norfolk County Council.
Broxap were commissioned to design, manufacture and install a canopy encompassing a herringbone layout to cover the bus station and areas of barrier rail to segregate pedestrians and buses, as well as cycle parking and street furniture for The King’s Lynn Transport Interchange.
The overall design includes the existing taxi rank and central island between layout bays.
The main canopy design was to mimic a series of umbrella, to which Broxap created a bespoke tensile structure complete with lighters beneath the tensioned fabric structure.
A central rainwater drainage channel runs through the middle part of the roof section to external drainage.
Weyburn seating and Derby litter bins, concrete planters along with extended Sheffield cycle stands were also supplied.
Cast iron spherical bollards provide a vehicle barrier at the end of the pedestrianised zone and bespoke posts and rails with pictorial punched steel panels complete the scheme.
The scheme totaled a value of £245,000,000 and was awarded the Mayor’s Design Awards Community Scheme category in 2016.
