Trent View College is one of the latest schools to open in North Lincolnshire, with state-of-the-art facilities and some of the highest energy efficient standards seen in an educational establishment worldwide, including utilising Intelligent Solutions to achieve Passivhaus.

The £12 million school provides 60 places for pupils aged between 16 and 24 with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).

Working with Morgan Sindall Construction, Broxap designed and manufactured a wide range of street furniture, shelters, cycle parking and seating for the college.

Broxap's opportunity to engage in early contractor involvement with Morgan Sindall significantly impacted the project’s overall success. By having Senior Design Managers, Project Managers, Structural Engineers, Quality Surveyors, and Architects work together across both parties, we were able to bridge the gap between theoretical design concepts and practical implementation, allowing the advancement of the civil works design, drainage, building interfaces, and fire sprinkler systems.

This proactive approach to problem-solving enabled a smoother transition from design to construction, resulting in fewer modifications required during the construction phase and reducing delays and unexpected costs.

Broxap's Litchard seats, benches and picnic tables were adapted to be inclusive. Made from softwood timber slats in varying sizes, the thoughtful design creates a space where all students can take a break, self-regulate and return to the classroom feeling more focused.

Some of the seating arrangements were covered by a Square Conic Canopy. As a waterproof tensile structure, the white canopy encourages outdoor play, activities and dining in all types of weather. Also in the outdoor space is a Cairns Perimeter Beam, a waterproof shade sail with a unique and modern abstract design.

Five of Broxap's classic Newcastle Monopitch Canopies were installed across the school, four of which are used as outdoor classrooms. They provided solar heat gain data to support the thermal calculations for the classrooms adjacent to the Newcastle canopies, a valuable step toward improving energy efficiency. With a galvanised and powder coated frame in Anthracite Grey, complete with a polycarbonate roof, the outdoor classrooms provide positive health benefits and greatly improve a student’s ability to learn. The fifth canopy is complete with Broxap's Stainless Steel Sheffield Cycle Stands, providing over 22 cycle parking spaces for staff, students and visitors.

Four Westleigh Litter Bins, manufactured with FSC-certified timber, were dotted around the college to keep it clean and waste-free, and 14 Timber Planters added greenery and serenity to surrounding areas.

Car parking areas saw the addition of their Heavy Duty Economy Bollards, some of which complete are with cast aluminium signs reading ‘disabled parking with “P’ as well as the wheelchair symbol.

The project was complete with Door Barriers that enhance safety and recue maintenance costs, and Stainless Steel Bollards that line the entrance of the college.
