BAM Construction were awarded the main contract for the construction of the £9m Leigh University Technical College (UTC) in Dartford for the Leigh Academies Trust, along with a number of other UTC projects.
Broxap were not specified on all external works products, but went to secure the whole external works package for this project. This was partly due to the on-going good working relationship they have with both the Buyers and Quantity Surveyors at BAM and the preferred supplier and subcontractor trading agreement Broxap have with them.
As part of the external package, BAM originally wanted to use the Apollo cycle shelters but due to the amount cycles spaces required, the uprights caused an obstruction for them. Broxap used their Academy shelters with set back uprights so that the cycle stands could be positioned in a fluid run to enable the capacity of cycles required.
Broxap were not specified on the seating for this project, but due to their design capabilities they were able to manufacture a bespoke product, which met the required specification whilst still being the most competitive.
Therefore both the client and BAM benefited from Broxap being able to provide the most cost effective solution to provide all products and becoming one point of contact for BAM to work with.
