Norbords flagship particleboard flooring product, Caberdek, is being installed throughout a major new residential development in the centre of Aberdeen.
All new buildings on the development are of timber frame construction, and throughout the scheme Cala Homes has specified the use of Caberdek for all suspended floors.
Caberdek, which is made in 1 8mm and 22mm thicknesses, is a premium flooring panel combining Norbords moisture-resistant P5 particleboard with a tough, non-slip protective film.
The plastic peel-clean film protects the board from damage after installation and once following wet trades have finished, is simply peeled off to reveal a pristine surface.
Weve been using this product for the past 1 0 years explains Cala Homes project manager Rob Gilbert, who stresses Caberdeks contribution to a quality finish: The protective surface is very important because we like to leave everything neat and tidy when the work is finished he says.
Although Cala Homes does not normally leave its floors exposed to the elements, the Caberdek film is tough enough to permit an installed floor to remain open to the elements for up to 42 days without risk of water damage.
The Caberdek used on this project is being supplied through Deeside Timber Frame as part of its supply contract. Mr Gilbert estimates that the total quantity of Caberdek installed at Hilton Campus will be in the region of 35,000 boards.
