Shearfix punching shear reinforcement from Ancon has been awarded UK CARES Technical Approval TA2-5041, which will provide engineers and concrete contractors with even greater confidence in this product.
The approval confirms Ancons design methodology, manufacturing facilities and quality control processes have undergone extensive independent assessment. It confirms Shearfix complies with all relevant standards, including the products suitability for use in reinforced concrete structures to BS EN 1992 (Eurocode 2).
Shearfix is used to reinforce a concrete slab against punching shear at columns heads. It eliminates any requirement for localised thickening of the concrete which simplifies formwork, provides a consistent head space and can reduce the overall height of a building.
The studs can be used to replace loose shear links which are time-consuming to assemble and install. Shearfix studs are welded to steel rails at the centres determined by Ancons calculation software. The rails ensure fast and accurate positioning of the studs within the slabs reinforcement.
Full material traceability is offered on Shearfix studs which are manufactured by Ancon from CARES-approved B500C reinforcing bar.
